The roar Returns: An Interview with MotoGP Legend Colin Edwards
The roar of engines is set to reverberate through the stunning Pertamina Mandalika International circuit once again as MotoGP prepares for its second round of the 2022 season.
We’re here with two-time World Superbike Champion and MotoGP veteran, Colin Edwards, to dissect the upcoming race and the impact of Enea Bastianini’s incredible Qatar victory.
keberadaan Colin, hello and thanks for joining us.
Colin Edwards: Cheers, mate. Always happy to talk MotoGP!
Moderator: Enea Bastianini’s win in Qatar was absolutely electrifying. Did it surprise you, considering he’s a relatively new face in the premier class?
Colin edwards: Honestly, while I was excited to see him perform well, a win so early on did raise an eyebrow. Bastianini’s got talent, don’t get me wrong, but MotoGP is a different beast. To see him push past seasoned riders like Quartararo, that was truly notable.
Moderator: Right! And you mentioned seasoned riders. The Mandalika Circuit hosted preseason testing, and we saw some strong performances from Pol Espargaro and Luca Marini. Do you think these testing times will translate into success on race day?
Colin edwards: The thing about testing is, you can be the fastest all week, but when the pressure’s on, the race day is a different ball game.Espargaro looked strong, but so did Marini. Mandalika is a tricky circuit, lots of elevation changes, blind corners. It’ll take more than just raw speed to win here. You need a rider who can read the track, be adaptable to changing conditions, and stay focused under pressure.
Moderator: So, we’re looking at a wildcard race then?
Colin Edwards: absolutely. We’ve also got defending champion Fabio Quartararo, who’ll be hungry to bounce back after Qatar. And don’t forget aleix Espargaro, he’s been knocking on the door for a while now.
Moderator: A lot of contenders, that’s for sure. Now, for our readers, what do you think are the key factors that will determine success at Mandalika? Is there anything in particular you’ll be looking for during the race?
Colin Edwards: I’ll be watching tire management closely. Mandalika’s surface is brutal on tires, especially in the heat. Whoever can make their tires last and maintain consistent pace will have a serious advantage.
Moderator: Great insight, Colin. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us. I know our readers, like myself, are eagerly anticipating what’s sure to be an unforgettable Indonesian Grand Prix.
Colin Edwards: you said it! It’s going to be a cracker.
Readers, let’s hear your thoughts! Who do you think will be the rider to be beat in Lombok? What are you most looking forward to seeing?”
