Now she’s completely focused on being a mom. This month daughter Lia turned three years old.

At the same age, the sports legend hit her first tennis balls. So far, Lia has not been very enthusiastic about the sport.

Mom doesn’t think it’s that bad. The 41-year-old explained that their characters are different.

She also takes care of various activities in Lia’s everyday life. They ride ponies, go swimming and try their first attempts on the slopes this ski season.
At the beginning of March, the Hingis family celebrated daughter Lia’s third birthday. Mama Martina Hingis made a conscious decision to focus her full attention on raising her child. The 41-year-old now tells in “Lässer, die Talkshow” which character traits she observes in her little one.
Although the offspring of the tennis icon already has many points of contact with the sport, Hingis is not sure whether a sports career is right for Lia. “We have different personalities,” she says. The little one only does a lot when she already has it under control. “And if she can’t, she doesn’t dare, or she gets tired of it quickly. It’s very exciting at this age.” Hingis often asks her mother, Melanie Molitor (65), for help. This advised: You have to motivate them in a playful way.
Ponies instead of tennis
However, the three-year-old already dared to try her hand at tennis with a tennis racket. After all, her mom was already practicing her talent at the same age. The fact that the enthusiasm for tennis has so far been limited does not bother Hingis. She does many other activities with her daughter. For example, they go swimming, let Lia try her first attempts at skiing this winter season and would go pony riding every Monday. “She takes great pleasure in that, actually even more than in tennis,” says Hingis with a proud smile and adds “still” after her statement.
Hingis nimmts locker
She is happy that her daughter can get a taste of tennis. For some time now, they have set up a “Bambini” group lesson in which Lia “always plays very actively”. Hingis herself was able to playfully enjoy the sport and approach it with a certain “relaxation” that her mother, Melanie Molitor, showed. “The world has changed again since then,” says Hingis. Today you have to approach it a lot more relaxed, so that they keep enjoying it.
Although Hingis ended her career in professional sports in October 2017 after years of being among the best in the world, she is still regularly on the tennis court. She trains young talents – and is often accompanied by daughter Lia.
