Giacomo Bertagnolli gives Italy the first gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Paralympics. An extraordinary feat for the Azzurri, who won the combined Paralympic title in the vision impaired category. The native of Cavalese brings the number of medals won at the Games to six and this is the third gold after the two won in 2018 in PyeongChang in giant and slalom.
The native of Cavalese had closed the super-G race in third place and then exalted himself in slalom. The Trentino rapid gates were simply amazing, where he inflicted very heavy gaps on all opponents. Together with his guide Andrea Ravelli, Bertagnolli was perfect in slalom, building a considerable advantage over all opponents.
Nobody was able to keep the speed of the blue, who made no mistakes and always remained precise and fast along the entire track. The silver medal went to the Austrian Johannes Aigner, who was delayed by more than two seconds (+2.18). The bronze, on the other hand, was won by the British Neil Simpson, delayed by more than three seconds (+3.01) from the blue.
