The illusion of advancing to the main draw of the Monterey Open of the mexicans Rodrigo Pacheco and Luis Patino vanished when they were defeated in the qualifying round.
The tricolor tennis players fell to the Americans Strong Kirchheim and Aleksandar Kovacevic in their respective matches in the final qualifying round.
Pacheco, who left Swedish Jonathan Mridha the day before, lost in his second qualifying match against Kirchheim, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
The game was very close in the first set in which they were tied until the tenth game at 5 apiece, before Strong broke Pacheco’s serve to line up and win the set.
In the second the Mexican took the lead and managed to break the American’s serve twice, showing greater control in his returns that allowed him to tie the match, in which he was supported by his relatives.
However, that advantage could not be sustained in the third and final set since in the third game Strong broke his serve and won the point that helped him regain his confidence and finally win the match.

In the other match, Patiño fell in two sets by partials of 6-4, 6-3 against Aleksandar Kovacevic with whom he put up a fierce fight because despite going down early on the board 3-0, he managed to tie the rival.
In the second set, the Mexican again went up on the scoreboard, but Kovacevic broke his serve and tied him at three points, causing the somersault that gave him victory at the end of the match.
With these results, the Mexican presence in the singles main draw of the Open will be in charge of Alex Hernández who is currently number 554 in the ATP ranking.
