Mexico Open 2022 will be part of the PGA TOUR calendar

Good news for Mexican golf, since the tournament Mexico Open appear for the first time on the PGA Tour schedule as an official FedExCup event.

So reported, Fernando Lemmen Meyerpresident of the Mexican Golf Federation, who told the media that he was very proud and happy for this progress for the sport in our country.

“At the FMG we are very happy and excited because every day is less for this great event, where we will be making history, by bringing the most important tournament to the PGA calendar.”

“It is truly a dream come true, having the best players in the world in our country is something that Mexican golfers deserved to have,” Lemmen said.

This important event will take place next April 25th to May 1, 2022 at the Vidanta golf course, Vallarta.

The field of 132 PGA TOUR professionals will compete for a pool of $7.3 million dollarsand the winner will receive 500 FedExCup points.

Plus an invitation to compete in a select number of events including the 2022 PGA Championship, 2023 PLAYERS Championship, 2023 Masters Tournament.

As well as the tournament only for champions, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, with the presence of the talented Aztec golfers, Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz.

It will also feature the number 1 worldwide Jon Rahm and high-level Mexican players like Roberto Díaz and Álvaro Ortiz, to name a few.
