The fall against Fluminense in the preliminary phase of the Copa Libertadores 2022 meant a new failure of Amber Capital at the head of Millonarios. It is more like that since before playing the game with the Brazilian team, the tie was lost, taking into account the little, if not null, investment thinking about reaching groups.
This new blow comes in the midst of enormous discomfort between the fans and the albiazul board, which by the way is headed by Gustavo Serpa, the largest shareholder and ‘representative’ of the investment group through the Blas de Lezo fund.
Since Amber Capital arrived at the club (2015), only two titles have been won: Liga BetPlay 2017-II and Superliga 2018. The rest has been failure after failure (national and international), except for the 2021 mid-year final.
Speaking of leagues only, until 2021 13 tournaments were played. The aforementioned championship, one subtitle (2021-I), two semifinals (2015-I, 2017-I), twice second in their respective home run (2019-I, 2021-II), twice fell in the quarterfinals ( 2016-I and II) and five eliminations in the all against all (2015-II, 2018-I, 2018-II, 2019-II and 2020).

Regarding the Conmebol Libertadores, the blue team lost twice in previous rounds (2017 with Paranaense, 2022 with Fluminense) and in 2018 they were third in their group (behind Corinthians and Independiente). As for the Copa Sudamericana, Santa Fe eliminated it in the round of 16 (2018) and Deportivo Cali did the same in the second qualifying round (2020), curiously, on both occasions the tie was defined from the launches of the penalty spot.
Thus, there are 26 competitions (counting the Super League) under Amber’s control in which only two titles have been obtained, a terrible balance for one of the country’s big clubs.
Of course, with the five-year plan that was announced in 2021, things are going smoothly for the international fund. Last year it was possible to sell to Wuilker Faríñez, the team qualified for the finals in both tournaments and the international quota was achieved.
For this 2022, the profits from the sale of players of at least 2 million dollars were settled with the passage of Emerson Rivaldo to the MLS (2.45 million). The rest of the tasks is to classify the homers in the two tournaments of the year and in one of them to reach the final, the championship is not even required. Of course, the item of at least two rounds in Sudamericana was lost with the early elimination in Libertadores.
As for the nominal issue, seven technicians have passed since 2015: Ricardo Lunari, Rubén Israel, Diego Cocca, Miguel Ángel Russo, Jorge Luis Pinto and Alberto Gamero. The latter being the one who has been in charge of the first team the longest (two years and three months).
