Moderator: Welcome, everyone, to today’s special interview! We’re thrilled to have with us a true legend of Italian baseball, Mirco Nodari, who is about to embark on a new chapter in his storied career. Mirco, thank you for joining us today. Let’s dive right in!
Moderator: Mirco, you’ve just signed with the red and white team, marking a notable milestone in your career. How does it feel to be starting this new journey, especially after your astonishing history with teams like the Old Rags and the Red Devils?
Mirco Nodari: Thank you for having me. It’s always exciting to start a new chapter, especially at this stage in my career. The red and white uniform represents a fresh challenge, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success. My time with the Old Rags and the Red Devils was formative, but this feels like a new adventure, and I’m ready for it.
moderator: You’ve had a long and winding career, starting in the youth leagues of Spino d’Adda and climbing your way up through Serie A2,B,and even C Championships. What would you say has been the biggest milestone in your journey so far?
Mirco Nodari: That’s a tough question! Every promotion and playoff victory has been special, but I’d say my first promotion to Serie A2 back in 2003 with the old Rags was a defining moment. It validated all the hard work and sacrifices I’d made up to that point. That said, my fourth promotion to A2 in 2017 with Codogno was also incredibly meaningful, as it came after a period of rebuilding my career post-injury.
Moderator: Speaking of that injury in 2004, you’ve had your share of setbacks, including that significant injury that sidelined you for a while. How did you overcome those challenges, and what advice would you give to young athletes facing similar obstacles?
Mirco Nodari: Injuries are part of the game, but they can be mentally devastating. What got me through was my passion for baseball and the support of my family and teammates. I focused on rehabilitation and came back stronger. My advice to young athletes is simple: don’t let setbacks define you. Use them as motivation to work harder and come back even better.
Moderator: You’ve been praised for your control and command of the strike zone, which has made you a versatile pitcher, whether as a set-up pitcher or long reliever. How do you maintain such consistency on the mound, and how do you see your role evolving with the red and white team?
mirco Nodari: Consistency comes from practice and experience. I’ve spent countless hours honing my mechanics and studying hitters. As for my role with the red and white team, I’m here to support the bullpen in whatever capacity the manager needs. Whether it’s closing out games or providing stability in the middle innings, I’m ready to contribute.
Moderator: Your time with the old Rags of Lodi has been particularly noteworthy, spanning multiple stints and leading the team to numerous playoffs. What is it about that club that keeps drawing you back?
Mirco Nodari: The Old Rags are like family to me. They gave me my start in baseball, and I’ve always felt a strong connection to the club and its fans. Even when I’ve played for other teams, Lodi has remained a special place for me. It’s where I grew as a player and as a person.
Moderator: Let’s talk about strategy. How do you think your experience and skill set will complement Marenghi’s approach with the red and white team?
Mirco Nodari: Marenghi is a tactician, and I think my ability to adapt to different roles on the mound will align well with his strategy. Whether it’s shutting down opponents in key moments or mentoring younger pitchers, I’m here to help the team succeed in any way I can.
moderator: Mirco, what’s next for you? Do you see this as the final chapter of your career, or do you have more goals you’d like to achieve?
Mirco Nodari: I’m taking it one game at a time, but I still have the fire to compete at a high level. I’d love to help the red and white team achieve their goals and, who knows, maybe even secure another promotion. For now, though, I’m focused on giving my best every time I step on the mound.
