MLB: a return to the negotiating table is scheduled for this Sunday

MLB and the Players Association will return to the bargaining table this Sunday, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The Players’ Association plans to respond in writing to the latest proposals from the league and its commissioner Rob Manfred.

On Tuesday, MLB announced that the first two series of the season were canceled. This is the first time since 1995 that a labor dispute has forced the cancellation of regular season games in major league baseball.

“My greatest hope is that there is an agreement quickly, had then mentioned Manfred. I am really disappointed that there was no agreement. »

For now, players remain locked out and will not be paid for canceled matches.

This is the ninth labor dispute in major league history.

Regular season games have been lost on four occasions. Already stricken by the pandemic and questions about the conduct of games, major league baseball is unable to divide the revenues of an industry estimated at $ 10 billion.
