The free agency of Major League Baseball (MLB) finally feels complete after the Dominican Albert Pujols has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the St. Louis Cardinals. this 2022 as he seeks to reach his 700 home run.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the deal would be worth $2.5 million.
Pujols could benefit from the implementation of the rule of universal designated hitterwhich will take this position to the National League after a first foray into the shortened 2020 season.
During the first eleven seasons of his career, the Dominican registered an OPS of 1.037 and 445 home runs with the Cardinalshelping the team to conquer the World Series of the major leagues in 2006 and 2011.
In that last Fall Classic, Pujols had a memorable moment when he gave three home runs in Game 3 against the Texas Rangers.
In addition, with the uniform of the Cardinals, he received several important distinctions in his career such as the award for Rookie of the Year in 2001, just as he was distinguished three times with the Most Valuable Player award of the National League.
Just to top it off, he was an All-Star in 10 of those 11 seasons.
