The New York Mets added another major pitcher to their rotation by signing Chriss Bassitt from the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
In the return from that trade, the A’s receive right-handed pitchers JT Ginn and Adam Oller.
Bassitt will be in the final year of his contract and is coming off a stellar campaign with a 12-4 record and a 3.15 ERA. However, his season took an ominous turn in August when he was hit hard by a 100mph arrow that came from the stick of Brian Goodwin of the Chicago White Sox.
Bassitt was back on the mound five weeks later.
The addition of the 33-year-old pitcher further solidifies the Mets rotation which includes Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer.
