MLB: Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers agree to a one-year contract

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athleticleft-hander Clayton Kershaw has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract to stay with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The agreement must be confirmed following physical tests.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the deal will bring in $17 million for the Gunner, who turns 34 next week.

Kershaw himself spilled the beans by posting a photo of himself on his Instagram account with the caption “Back! (We back!)”.

The three-time Cy Young Trophy winner, who turns 34 next week, will enter his 15th season in Major League Baseball. He was named to the National All-Star team eight times and has a career record of 185-84.

Last season, Kershaw went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA and 144 strikeouts.

He missed the playoffs, however, where the Dodgers moved two wins away from reaching the World Series. A left forearm injury also deprived him of several starts in the second half of the season.

Kershaw received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his left arm and he was expected to be ready in time for the start of training camp.

Last fall, the Dodgers did not submit a qualifying offer of $18.4 million for the future Hall of Famer. However, the organization had expressed its desire to retain his services.

Kershaw won the World Series with the Dodgers in 2020.
