The Toronto Blue Jays and pitcher Yusei Kikuchi have reportedly agreed to terms on a 3-year deal worth US$36 million, our sister station reports. TSN Saturday.
It appears the Jays were interested in Kikuchi’s services before he agreed to join the Seattle Mariners in 2019.
The deal will earn Kikuchi $16 million in 2022 and $10 million in 2023 and 2024, according to the columnist.USA Today Bob Nightengale.
Kikuchi has spent the past 3 seasons with the Mariners, posting a 4.41 ERA in 157 innings left over 29 starts in 2021. It was by far his best campaign since joining Major League Baseball.
As of this writing, the Jays starting rotation is expected to consist of Jose Berrios, Kevin Gausman, Hyun Jin Ryu, Alek Manoah and Kikuchi.
