With a goal from Costa Rican Joel Campbell, the “Rayados” of Monterrey beat the “Cañoneros” of Mazatlán 2-1 at the BBVA stadium, on Friday at the start of the tenth day of the Clausura-2022 tournament of Mexican soccer.
The ‘Rayados’ had a free kick from the right side at minute 18, Alfonso González put the ball in motion and the Colombian Stefan Medina scored the 1-0 with a header from the edge of the small area.
At 41, Luis Romo scored the ball and enabled Campbell in the area who defined the 2-0 with a low and crossed touch to overcome the throw of the Uruguayan goalkeeper Nicolás Vikonis.
Mazatlan got closer to 72 when Miguel Sansores made it 2-1 with a popcorn shot inside the small area.
With this result, Monterrey reached 12 points and Mazatlan was left with seven units.
At the Benito Juárez Olympic Stadium, the ‘Foxes’ of Atlas beat the ‘Bravos’ of Juárez 2-1.
At minute 24, the Colombian Julián Quiñones scored the 1-0 with a shot about 25 meters from the goal that roofed the goalkeeper Hugo González.
Quiñones provided the assist for the 2-0 that Argentine Julio Furch scored with a touch inside the small area at 59.
The 2-1 of the ‘Bravos’ was the work of Fernando Arce at 65 with a half-turn shot inside the area to place the ball in the upper right corner.
Thus, the athletic squad reached 18 points while the Juarense team was left with eight units.
The day began at the Victoria stadium where the ‘Rayos’ of Necaxa defeated the ‘Gallos Blancos’ of Querétaro 1-0 behind closed doors, who arrived at the building protected by a security device.
