NBA: Luguent Dort’s season with the Thunder is over with a left shoulder injury

OKLAHOMA CITY – Quebecer Luguentz Dort’s season is over, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Tuesday.

Dort underwent surgery to repair a tear in his left shoulder. According to the Thunder, he should be ready to return to training before the start of the 2022-23 season.

The Montreal North player has not stepped on the field since February 12 in Chicago, where he collected 31 points.

Dort has been a starter in all 51 games he has appeared in this season. He had the same distinction last season, starting in all 52 of his games. During this campaign, he averaged 17.2 points per game and spent just over 32 minutes in the field, on average.

Dort has 139 career NBA games over three seasons, all with the Thunder.

OKC signed him after the 2019 draft. He had not been chosen at Barclays Center, after having shone with Arizona State.

The Thunder were 20-44 before hosting the Bucks on Tuesday.

Dort was the team’s leading scorer in 17 games, including a four-game streak, from late January to early February. He had 130 three-pointers, a Thunder high. In addition, his free throw success rate increased from 74% to 84%, compared to the previous season. The team leader is Ontario’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 24 points per game.
