Cologne (SID) – Returnee Daniel Theis won a Sunday thriller with the Boston Celtics in the professional basketball league NBA and consolidated the play-off place in the east. Thanks to a strong final phase, the record champions beat the Brooklyn Nets 126:120 on Sunday, national player Theis scored three points.
Boston is fifth after the success with 39 wins and 27 losses, Brooklyn (32:33) suffered a setback in the race for participation in the championship round. Theis, who most recently returned to his first NBA club from the Houston Rockets, played 10:33 minutes and made all the points from the free-throw line. Only three out of eight attempts were successful.
Man of the night was Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who scored 54 points. As the best pitcher in the Nets, superstar Kevin Durant scored 37 points.
