NBA Roundup: Raptors Edge Out Nets, Warriors Suffer second Straight Loss
The Toronto Raptors secured a hard-fought 109-108 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, despite a frosty reception for former Raptor Goran Dragic. Dragic, who was traded to the Nets after a brief and tumultuous stint in Toronto, faced boos from the Scotiabank Arena crowd. He finished with 10 points in 15 minutes of play.
The Nets, missing key players Kevin Durant,Kyrie Irving, and recent acquisition Ben Simmons, put up a valiant effort against a Raptors team that had demolished them 133-97 just a day earlier. however, a strong defensive performance in the fourth quarter, limiting the Nets to just 19 points, proved decisive for Toronto.
Scottie Barnes led the Raptors with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including a crucial nine-point run that put Toronto ahead for good. Gary Trent Jr. stepped up in the absence of Fred VanVleet, scoring 24 points, while Pascal Siakam added 18 points and eight rebounds.
Simultaneously occurring, the Golden State Warriors suffered their second consecutive loss, falling 129-114 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors, hampered by the absences of Klay Thompson (illness) and Draymond Green (back), struggled defensively, allowing the Timberwolves to shoot an extraordinary 52.8% from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns capitalized on the Warriors’ defensive woes, leading Minnesota with 39 points.
Stephen Curry, as usual, put up a strong performance with 34 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Warriors from slipping further behind the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference standings.

Inside the NBA: A Post Game Deep Dive with Coach Mike budenholzer
Welcome back too Inside the NBA, NBA fans! Tonight, we have a real treat for you. Joining us is none othre than Coach Mike Budenholzer, former Head Coach of the NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, to break down all the action from last night’s riveting matchups.
Coach Budenholzer, thanks for joining us!
Mike budenholzer: Thanks for having me. Always a pleasure to talk hoops.
Let’s jump right into it. It was a wild night across the league, but the Raptors’ two-game series against the Nets was especially intriguing. They absolutely steamrolled Brooklyn on Monday, only for the Nets to make things really engaging on tuesday, despite missing Durant, Irving, and Simmons. What did you make of Toronto’s defensive performance down the stretch?
Coach Budenholzer: I think you’ve got to give the Raptors credit. Championship teams, even when they’re not at their best, find ways to win. They dug deep defensively in that fourth quarter, really tightened things up, and made it tough for the Nets to get clean looks. Even shorthanded, Brooklyn has scorers who can get hot, so that defensive stand was crucial.
Absolutely. Barnes had a big night – nine straight points to secure the lead. Do you see him developing into a true leader for this Raptors team?
Coach Budenholzer: He’s got the potential, for sure. That kind of aggressive playmaking down the stretch is what separates good players from great players. He’s got the size, the athleticism, and is clearly developing his offensive repertoire.
Simultaneously occurring, out West, the Warriors suffered their second straight loss, this time to the Timberwolves. You mentioned the absences of Thompson and green earlier – how much did that impact Golden State’s performance?
Coach Budenholzer: Losing players like thompson and Draymond is obviously a huge blow for any team. But credit to Minnesota – they shot the lights out. Karl-Anthony Towns was dominant, and their offensive execution was very impressive.
Curry, as always, put up fantastic numbers, but it wasn’t enough. Do you think they’re starting to show some cracks in their championship armor?
Coach Budenholzer: It’s still early in the season. Every team faces adversity. You can see on paper that the Warriors are still incredibly talented. But they need to find a way to consistently play defense at a high level, especially with key players out.
Coach, looking ahead to the rest of the season, who are some matchups you’re most looking forward to?
Coach Budenholzer: Oh, plenty!
