By getting a second chance at the Lakers a few weeks ago, Sekou Doumbouya thought perhaps finally to really launch his adventure on the spot. Unfortunately for him, it’s a big bad news that has just reached him!
As the 15th Draft pick, he thought he might be living a career like Giannis Antetokounmpo, and experiencing enormous development across the Atlantic. Instead, it’s been a much less idyllic journey he’s been on since arriving in the United States. Pistons player for two seasons, Sekou Doumbouya is going through much more delicate days this year.
Signed just before the start of the regular season by the Lakers via a two-way contract, the young French winger was only very rarely entitled to playing time under the orders of Frank Vogel. In reality, he only made two appearances in the Purple and Gold colors, before being cut once. Later recovered by the franchise, his fate ultimately turned out to be even more terrible.
Final clap for Sekou Doumbouya at the Lakers?
Faced with the catastrophic results of Los Angeles, Rob Pelinka and his assistants have recently decided to make changes within the workforce. DeAndre Jordan thus packed his bags, while two players have been recruited, including Wenyen Gabriel as a two-way player. The latter is also preparing to take the place of Doumbouya, as revealed by Jovan Buha of The Athletic !

The Lakers are set to cut winger Sekou Doumbouya to free up a roster spot and sign Wenyen Gabriel on a two-way deal, sources tell The Athletic.
Unfortunately for Doumbouya, it is therefore him, and not Mason Jones, the team’s other two-way player, who bears the brunt of this arrival.
A statement after all logical, as the American flames with the South Bay Lakers. His averages of 26.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game indeed impress much more than those of 6.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists of the Frenchie. It is therefore a new challenge that the latter will have to take up, if he wishes to continue his career in the league!
For the second time this season, Sekou Doumbouya will therefore have to recover from a cut from the Lakers. However, this time, the French should not benefit from a new chance on the spot!
