The speed of the players continues to make people talk NFL Combine. Baylor cornerback Kalon Barnes ran for 40 yards in 4.23 seconds on Sunday.
It is the best time ever for a defensive player and the second best time in history, one hundredth behind wide receiver John Ross who achieved the feat in 2017.
Barnes leaves Indy with the second fastest time of any player since 2003.
UTSA cornerback Tariq Woolen, who was in the same group as Barnes, posted a time of 4.26 on Sunday, which puts him fourth in the fastest times since 2003, behind Ross, Barnes and the former Titans running back Chris Johnson (4.24 in 2008).
Barnes’ speed shouldn’t have surprised NFL evaluators, as he was ranked second on NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s list of 40-yard rush candidates.
The 5-foot-11, 183-pound cornerback holds the Texas high school record in the 100 yards (10.22 seconds) and was a member of the Baylor University track team.
