In the nfl news this Friday: Amari Cooper about to leave the Cowboys; the NFL returns to normal before the pandemic; and more. Don’t miss the latest inside the NFL:
The NFL has eliminated all protocols for COVID-19
The league and its players union (the NFLPA), announced the agreement to end the harsh measures they applied during the pandemic. That is, everything will return to “normal” prior to this matter.
“Based on recent encouraging trends around the prevalence of COVID-19 severity (…) the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to suspend all aspects of COVID-19 protocols,” the league memo said. “We will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of players, coaches and staff, just as we have throughout the pandemic.”
However, if there are people with symptoms of the virus, they will still have to report to the team’s medical staff and return a negative result to re-enter the facility. Otherwise, they will be isolated for five days, if they are positive cases.
At the same time, certain benefits that were implemented in the last two years are expected to remain, such as unlimited returns from injured reserve and increased capacity in the practice squad pool.
Here’s the memo that just went to clubs on the NFL and NFLPA suspending all COVID-19 protocols. No more masks, tracking devices, mandatory surveillance testing or capacity limits, unless required by state and local law. pic.twitter.com/TIdvfCWr9m

Amari Cooper practically out of the Cowboys
The trio of Dallas receivers, CeeDee LambMichael Gallup and Amari Cooper, is about to be dissolved by the organization itself. According to a report from “The Dallas Morning News” there is no going back on the plan.
“The joint opinion of several sources at the NFL Combine is that it would be a surprise if (Amari) Cooper returns,” they mention in the note.
However, at least one, Michael Gallup, is expected to return this year. However, Lamb’s meteoric rise to take his place, combined with the $16 million they would free up in the move, makes it inevitable that the ex-Raiders will be the one sacrificed in this case.
Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup have all but certainly played their final game together in Dallas. There are still moving pieces for Cowboys, but the shared opinion from several sources at combine is it would be an upset if Cooper returns. https://t.co/jQsDlH03R8

Record was recorded (and corrected) by mistake at the Scouting Combine
In WR Baylor Tyquan Thornton’s 40-yard test, he had not only flown, but was initially recorded to do so in 4.21 seconds, beating WR John Ross’s mark of 4.22 in the process.
We were nowhere near witnessing the story within our coverage of the eventbut unfortunately, just as it came, it left, since it ended up being revised shortly after, and its time was established in 4.28 seconds. Obviously, it’s an excellent time, although it was disappointing to have felt to be in front of a feat and to see it corrected.
WOW. JUST WOW.@BUFootball WR Tyquan Thornton might’ve just broken the all-time 40 record with a 4.21u.

Baker Mayfield on trial with the Browns for another year
In Cleveland, the head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry have opted to give their 26-year-old quarterback one last chance, avoiding career breakup for now, according to new information from Mary Kay Cabot.
This means that Baker Mayfield will be paid all of his money in full, which would be $18.8 million in salary (his fifth-year option), and then we’ll see if he becomes a free agent by 2023.
Although he threw 17 TDs and 13 interceptions, clearly going downhill, they’re clearly confident it’s a blip after successfully undergoing surgery to repair his shoulder in January of this year. Now only time will tell if Mayfield really showed his true colors. Last season or indeed it is what he promised earlier.
The #Browns and Baker Mayfield’s reps met at the #NFLCombine as scheduled on Thursday, and reinforced the Browns plans to start him in ’22 and not replace him with a veteran, sources tell clevelanddotcom https://t.co/7BuV3XWktb

The Rams and Odell Beckham Jr. are close to a deal
The former Giants has made no secret of his desire to stay in Los Angeles at any cost, even willing to sacrifice money, as he told the NFL site with a laugh. But at least this interest would be mutual, since an agreement between them is expected very soon, according to Ian Rapoport’s report.
Although he just suffered a torn ACL in the Super Bowl and doesn’t expect to be back until the end of the year (November), all that hard workYes, it will be rewarded. It will only be necessary for Beckham to recover that level before the injury, to repeat a season like 2021.
