CHARLOTTE, NC — The Carolina Panthers have signed Zane Gonzalez to a two-year contract, which helped solidify the team’s position as a precision kicker last season.
Gonzalez was likely to become an unrestricted free agent next week.
Gonzalez joined the Panthers in Week 2 and made 20 of 22 field goal attempts, including 17 consecutively. However, a quadriceps injury during the warm-up before a game against the Buffalo Bills ended his season.
His 90.9 percent success rate on field goal attempts ranked him ninth in the NFL. He was also successful on 22 of his 23 conversion attempts.
