We won’t see Deshaun Watson with the Miami Dolphins.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said the “door is closed” on the Houston Texans’ quarterback as the team wants to pursue the development of Tua Tagovailoa.
Watson, 26, did not play in 2021. Although he has not been officially suspended, Watson has remained on the sidelines after allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment emerged as well as a series of civil lawsuits against him.
The fifth overall selection in the 2020 draft, Tagovailoa played in 13 games last season, getting 2,653 yards while completing 263 of 388 passes with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also had 128 rushing yards and three more touchdowns.
The Dolphins are 29th in next month’s draft.
