The National Football League has ended the coronavirus. Grandiloquent words, but that with the most watched competition of the The United States of America is given as they have announced the suspension of all measures against the virus that exist in the league. From masks, tests, quarantines, controls… All, unless the nation or one of the states opposes it and with the evident awareness of preserving the health of the ‘football’ family in case of contagion, outbreaks… .
Covid-19 hit the NFL, like almost all other social aspects -and of sport, therefore-. Teams with innumerable losses that made them play with players out of position, as happened with Kendall Hinton playing quarterback being catcher in the Broncos. Of course, a game was never suspended due to that philosophy of ‘Last man standing’, which indicates that if there are 11 to play, it is played.
Two years later the NFL and the players association has announced that all measures will be eliminated. The first league in the world that does so with such resounding, because it is a ‘normal‘full and absolute. There will be no masks, tests, monitoring, capacity limits or isolation by law. Evidently, if there are contagions, a protocol must be applied to preserve the health of the playersbut, as a general rule, the league does not force a specific number of controls, use of masks…
“Based on current positive trends and in light of the severity of COVID-19 (…), the NFL and NFLPA have decided to suspend all items of the COVID-19 Protocol. We continue to prioritize the health and safety of players, coaches and staff, as we have throughout the pandemic.”
It will only change if any of the states or localities decide to implement some type of regulation. If it happens, the NFL says that legislation should apply. On the other hand, if there are positives or symptoms, it must be monitored so as not to spread and endanger the health of the players, as expected.
