Noja celebrates El Privilegio de Vara again

Noja recovers the festive programming that celebrates the anniversary of the granting by King Felipe IV of the Privilege of Vara, a distinction that earned him the title Villa and his independence from the Junta de Siete Villas.

The City Council of Noja wanted to commemorate this anniversary, which occurred in 1644, with an extensive program that will recreate that time and in which there will be no lack of historical staging, spectacular knight tournaments and flag games, among other events.

Friday March 18
6:00 p.m. Inaugural parade to open the Privilege of Vara event.
6:45 p.m. Microtheatre The alliance of the banderías.
7:30 p.m. Court dance teachers.
8:15 p.m. The condemnation of the traitor.
9:00 p.m. Music concert in honor of his majesty Felipe IV.

Saturday March 19
11:00 a.m. The musicians open the market.
11:30 a.m. Micro theater The baker.
12:30 p.m. Representation of the Privilege of Vara.
2:00 p.m. The sounds of the wind.
2:30 p.m. Cauldron throwing contest.
2:30 p.m. Tasting of the typical dish of the time in honor of the first mayor of the new Villa de Noja.
5:00 p.m. Opening of the market with the musicians of the Villa.
17:30 h. Medieval tournament.

8:00 p.m. Microtheatre The account of feats.
8:00 p.m. Barbecue time in the square (next to the pavilion).
8:30 p.m. Fire show celebrating the birth of Noja as a Villa.

Sunday March 20
11:00 a.m. Opening of the market with the King’s musicians and the Queen’s ladies.

12:15 p.m. Gentlemen parade.
12:30 p.m. Game of reeds.
1:30 p.m. The musicians of the kingdom.
2:00 p.m. Archery contest.
2:30 p.m. The time of the Good Yantar.

Camp

Throughout the weekend we will have activities and games at the camp:
– Archery.
– Assembly of the armor to a nobleman with his explanation.
– Recruitment of apprentices, who will be taught how to parade and fight.
– Battles of hidalgos.
– Dances.
– Children’s workshops: face painting, making bracelets,…
– Children’s toy library: wooden seesaws, medieval four in a row, wooden rollers, horseshoe game, wooden castle, game of throwing the soldier, giant chess, giant checkers, puzzles, mazes, aiming games, sack race, the wishing tree…
We will also have attractions for the little ones (trampoline and boat).

All the performances that take place during the weekend, both in the market and in the camp, are aimed at all audiences.

contests

– Launch of the cauldron. On Saturday at 2:30 p.m. the cauldron launching contest will be held.

– Archery: On Sunday at 2:00 p.m. there will be an archery contest. The winner will receive a trophy and all the participants will obtain their diploma that accredits them as the best archers in the Villa de Noja. Throughout the day they will be able to practice their aim and the best 5 will compete in the afternoon in the contest.
