Novak Djokovic – Chris Evert backs Djoker in the vaccination debate: “Say what he feels”

She herself is a big supporter of vaccinations, “because I really believe that they help to ward off Covid and save lives,” Chris Evert explained in the Exclusive interview with Eurosport.

Nevertheless, she admires and respects Novak Djokovic, “because he says what he feels,” said the American: “He is very honest and says openly what he feels.”

“So it’s always a mixed bag,” Evert described her emotional state in the discussion about Djokovic.

Evert: “Every time Djokovic plays, it’s better for tennis”

Djokovic appealed and was allowed to train on the Australian Open facility during the ongoing proceedings. Ultimately, the 34-year-old was finally expelled from the country just one day before the start of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

After it seemed in the meantime that the 20-time Grand Slam champion could miss all four Grand Slam tournaments as an unvaccinated person, participation in the French Open in Paris seems possible again due to the corona easing in France.

This is good news for Evert. “Every time Novak Djokovic plays a tournament, it’s better for tennis. It’s more interesting for everyone,” said the 18-time Grand Slam winner: “Also because he’s one of the few players who can challenge Nadal on the red clay, I am very happy that he gets to play in France.”

Evert: The “Big 3” fight will continue

Djokovic is the only tennis player to have won the French Open twice since 2005 during the Nadal era.

The fight between Djokovic, Nadal and Federer also electrifies Evert: “I’ve always been a fan of the ‘BIG 3’ and their rivalry. I’m curious and interested in what will happen.”

From their point of view, this fight will continue for some time. “We will probably have a definitive result in three years,” believes Evert.
