Marian Vajda, one of the most renowned coaches in tennis history, is no longer part of Novak Djokovic’s team. The Slovakian coach was not in Melbourne or Dubai at the start of the stormy start to the season and one of the most successful relationships in tennis today has come to an end.
The rest of Djokovic’s team remains the same: coach Goran Ivanisevic, physiotherapists Ulises Badio and Miljan Amanovic, and physical trainer Marco Panichi.
It should be remembered that Ivanisevic, who joined the world number 2 team during Wimbledon 2019, he attended more tournaments than Vajda, soon to be 57, because Vajda said at the time that he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Vajda has been an integral part of Novak Djokovic’s life for over 15 years. They started working together before Roland Garros 2006 and, apart from a short break, have been together ever since. Vajda has been a part of each of Djokovic’s 20 Grand Slam titles.
Right now no one knows which tournaments Djokovic will be allowed to play because he is not vaccinated, with the first two Masters 1000 tournaments of the season (Indian Wells and Miami) scheduled in the United States.
