Ogre / Hydrox competed in a draw at the Baltic Handball League in Estonia on Saturday, while Dobele’s Tenax failed. “Ogre” / “Hydrox” played 33:33 (17:18) with Rasik “Mistra”. Aleksandrs Pacikaiļiks scored 11 goals for the guests, but Alexei Haisa added six goals. Vladislav Naumenko stood out in the Estonian team with 11 goals.
Tenax, on the other hand, gave in to Viljandi at 22:24 (11:12). Nikita Panchenko scored six goals and Anton Shuleiko scored five goals for Dobele. Kristo Voika was the scorer for the home team. Dobele “Tenax” with 25 points in 23 games takes the seventh position in the competition of 13 teams, “Ogre” / “Hydrox” with 16 points in 24 games ranks tenth, but Ludza “Latgols” with 23 points in 23 matches is in the last place.
There are 13 teams in the Baltic Handball League this season. Estonia and Lithuania have five units. For Estonia they are “Tapa”, “Viljandi”, Rāsiku “Mistra”, “Kehra” and Põlva “Serviti”, Lithuania is represented by Alytus “Varsa – Stronglasa”, Kaunas “Granitas – Karys”, Klaipėda “Dragunas”, Vilnius “Šviesa” and “Vilnius”, but Latvia – the previous season Latvian champion Dobele “Tenax”, “Ogre” / ”Hydrox” and Ludza “Latgols”. This season, one of the leading domestic teams of Riga “Celtnieks” is not starting in any of the tournaments.
The winners of the previous season’s league were Klaipėda’s “Dragunas”, which won the Vilnius “Švieša” in the final. Latvian teams – Dobele “Tenax”, Riga “Celtnieks”, “Ogre” and Ludza “Latgols” – were forced to terminate their participation in the league due to Covid-19 restrictions.
