Paul Onuachu was unable to continue against STVV and had to passively watch as STVV won the Limburg derby 0-1. After the game, the tall striker could not hide his disappointment and anger. “This is very disappointing.”
Onuachu was not pleased with the efforts of his teammates. “STVV fought for every ball, but when we played with the long ball, everyone stayed in the back. There was no one to fight for the second ball.”
“We played really bad, like frightened weasels”, Onuachu is adamant. “We don’t play as a team and that’s the problem. Everyone just does what they like and so it’s hard for me to play my game.”
“I am at the front of an island and can do nothing. Everyone hid and nobody provided depth. I warned everyone in the dressing room that it would be just like against Cercle Brugge (2-2 draw). not me.”
After such a defeat, the atmosphere in the dressing room cannot be good. “Nobody is arguing,” Onuachu refutes. “It’s quiet in the dressing room, everyone is disappointed.”
Genk is still in eighth place, which gives the right to Play-off II, but now has to look back. Cercle is approached by 2 points, STVV follows a little further. “Everything is in jeopardy now. We have to be honest, it’s been a terrible season so far.”
