TotalEnergies Qatar congratulated the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation for the very successful management of the Qatar TotalEnergies Open. The week-long event took place in Doha from February 20-26 and improved its ranking in the WTA 1000 class for the first time.
It received 56 players, including 8 of the top 10 players in singles and 28 pairs in doubles. Poland’s Iga Swiatek won the singles title, while Americans Corey Gauff and Jessica Pegola were the doubles champions.
This year, the sponsorship agreement launched in 2001 was renewed for three additional years. But TotalEnergies’ partnership with the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Association goes beyond tennis. Flexibility, mutual respect and pioneering spirit are among the values shared by the two organizations
“Over the past 21 years, we have seen this tournament progress from Tier 3 to the WTA 1000 this year, which gives us great pride to join. This year has been exceptional for us with the renaming of the tournament to Qatar TotalEnergies Open, reflecting the change in our corporate identity that occurred last year. »
I would like to thank and congratulate the organizing committee – in particular Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation, Tariq Darwish Zainal, Secretary General, Saad Al-Mohannadi, Tournament Director, and all the staff of Success. of the tournament, which is a valuable tool to promote the sport within the community and a unique source of aspirations for young players in Qatar and the region.
TotalEnergies welcomed many visitors to its stand in the public village, allowing everyone to benefit from player engagement events such as meet and greets, youth press conferences and children’s visits. On the stand, visitors were able to take advantage of the “Energy Journey” cycling activity, which demonstrated the different forms of energy in which TotalEnergies participates.
For the first time this year, emissions from the cabins of TotalEnergies have been reduced thanks to solar energy. There was also an exhibition of solar panels and a cleaning robot provided by the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), allowing visitors and children to learn more about solar energy, one of the main poles activity of TotalEnergies.
Keen to support local cultural and artistic talent in Qatar, TotalEnergies has also partnered with three emerging Qatari artists exclusively for this event.
