The war in Ukraine is rocking the world. The response to the invasion by Russia has been heavy with economic and non-economic sanctions that are creating many problems for the Kremlin. Even in sport, real stings have arrived as confirmed above all by the suspension of the Russian national team and all the teams from every football competition, including the World Cup. And there was also no shortage of measures against the Russian president Vladimir Putina great martial arts enthusiast.
The work of the class of 1952 has outraged the world federation of taekwondo, full contact combat sport in which soccer techniques are mainly used. World Taekwondo, or the body that governs this discipline and is a member of the Association of International Summer Olympic Federations and the International Paralympic Committee, has targeted Vladimir Putin after the invasion and attacks on Ukraine. To the Russian president 9th dan honorary black belt was revoked which had been assigned to him in November 2013.
In the brief official note, Putin’s work is harshly condemned, as he is dishonoring the core values of taekwondo. This is the press release: “World Taekwondo strongly condemns the brutal attacks on innocent lives in Ukraine, which go against the vision of world Taekwondo under the banner of “Peace is more precious than triumph” and the values of respect and tolerance In this regard, World Taekwondo has decided to withdraw the honorary black belt of 9th dan awarded to Vladimir Putin in November 2013 ″.
She faints when she discovers that her son has died in Ukraine: “Her boyfriend killed by a sniper”
To pay the consequences also all the Russian and Belarusian athletes: “In solidarity with the International Olympic Committee, no Russian or Belarusian flag or national anthem will be displayed or played at world Taekwondo events. The World Taekwondo and the European Taekwondo Union will not organize or recognize Taekwondo events in Russia and Belarus. World Taekwondo’s thoughts are directed to the Ukrainian people and we hope for a peaceful and immediate end to this war“.
A stance that is paired with that of the international Judo federation, which a few days earlier had openly sided against Putin, suspending his status as Honorary President and Ambassador of the International Federation. A very hard double blow, therefore, for the president of Russia who is getting scorched around even in the world of sport.
