The Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP) gave its support to the Working Group of the Peruvian Basketball Federation that made its registration effective in the National Registry of Sports and Public Registries, in the search to reactivate the federative activities of the sport in the country.
As is known, andPeruvian basketball was suspended by the International Federation, due to mismanagement in the administration of the Peruvian Federation of this sport.
Due to this, the national team has not had a presence in any championship held in recent years, and was even left out of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games held in our country.
The current Working Group, led by Omar Chirinos, will hold elections to establish the Federation’s board in accordance with the provisions of the Olympic Charter, with the support of the COP and the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).it will be sought that the electoral process be democratic, inclusive, free of any type of limitation and in accordance with its Statute.
In this way, the way will be prepared to restore affiliation with FIBA, and for basketball in Peru to once again develop federative activities for the good of athletes who have not been able to perform in their sport in the last 6 years.
