Peruvian Para badminton shines and wins eight medals in Spain |  News

The Peruvian para badminton team won eight medals (one gold, five silver and two bronze) at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2022, a tournament endorsed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). In its first international participation of the year, our team left a good impression for what is to come this season.

Giuliana Poveda and Rubí Fernández were the winners of the gold medal in the Doubles SH6 modality (people of short stature).

They surpassed the pairs from Poland, Russia, India, among others. In addition, individually, they also stood on the podium to receive the silver (Poveda) and bronze (Fernández) medals.

The Peruvian presence on the podium did not end there, because also in the SH6 category our team won two medals in the mixed doubles category. Jesús Salva and Rubí Fernández won the silver, while Nilton Quispe and Giuliana Poveda won the bronze.

In the WH1-WH2 categories, for people in wheelchairs, Pilar Jáuregui won three silver medals: in singles, in doubles with the Canadian Yuka Chokyu and in mixed with the Italian Yuri Ferrigno.

The Peruvian para badminton team will continue its tour of Spain, since from March 9 to 13 they will play the IBERDROLA Spanish Para Badminton International 2022.
