From Courtside to Olive Groves: An Exclusive Interview with Éric Elena

Éric Elena wears many hats. President of teh Monaco Basket Association (MBA). Olive grove cultivator. Visionary leader. Today, we’re fortunate enough to have him here to delve into his inspiring journey, both on and off the court.

Welcome, Éric. Thanks for joining us today.

Éric: It’s my pleasure to be here. Basketball and nature are two of my biggest passions, so any opportunity to talk about them is a win for me.

Let’s dive right in. The MBA has achieved remarkable success under your leadership, especially with the women’s team’s ascent to the National 1 league. What would you say are the key factors behind this impressive rise?

Éric: It’s been a collective effort. The dedication of our players, coaches, and staff has been amazing. We’ve also been strategic in our focus, especially after Sergey Dyadechko’s notable investment in AS Monaco Basket’s men’s team. We saw an opportunity to carve a niche for ourselves in women’s basketball, and we’ve leveraged that effectively.

That’s definately a bold move. Some might argue it’s risky to concentrate resources on one side. What’s your take on that?

Éric: Every decision comes with its own risk. But I firmly believe that specialization can lead to excellence. By focusing on the women’s team, we’ve created a dedicated path for them to flourish and achieve their full potential. It’s about giving them the support and attention they deserve.

Do you see this as a sustainable model for the future of the MBA?

Éric: Absolutely. We’re seeing tremendous growth in women’s basketball globally. The level of talent and competition is only going up, and the MBA wants to be at the forefront of that. We’re building a legacy, one that empowers young women athletes and inspires the next generation.

Speaking of legacies, you’ve mentioned seeking a new patron to lead the MBA to the first division. What qualities are you looking for in this individual?

Éric: Passion, vision, and drive are essential. Someone who understands the power of sports and its ability to unite and inspire. They need to share our belief in the MBA’s mission and be willing to invest in its long-term success.

Now, let’s shift gears a bit. You’ve been making headlines with your olive grove project. Tell us more about this venture and how it intersects with your love for basketball.

Éric: (Laughing) It’s definitely a different kind of court! Cultivating olive trees is a unique experience. It teaches patience, discipline, and a profound respect for nature. Just like in basketball, success requires commitment and a willingness to learn and adapt.

That’s a interesting perspective. Do you see any parallels between these seemingly disparate passions?

Éric: Absolutely. Both basketball and olive cultivation demand teamwork, dedication, and a love for the process. They both require you to nourish something and nurture its growth, whether it’s a young athlete or a sapling.ultimately, they’re both about striving for excellence and leaving a positive impact.

Éric, thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences. Your dedication to both sport and sustainability is truly inspiring. What message would you leave our readers?

Éric: Don’t be afraid to pursue your passions, even if they seem unconventional. Embrace challenges, stay focused on your goals, and always remember the power of community. Together, we can achieve anything.
