Robin Pröpper crowned himself match winner against SC Cambuur. After his goal, he showed the captain’s armband with the Ukrainian flag. He also thought of Henk de Jong’s son, who is still struggling with the aftermath of corona. That is also how the Frisian reporter Sander de Vries saw.
Pröpper kept the captain’s armband in the air after his goal against SC Cambuur. “He was really emotional. He was really sincere.” De Vries himself did not see that. “A goal is scored and then someone holds up such a captain’s armband and someone has to tell me because we are then busy with Twitter,” says the journalist at KOKO Radio of the Leeuwarder Courant.
“He gave Henk de Jong a shirt from FC Twente to Henk de Jong. Then you think: what good is that? But De Jong knows Pröpper well. De Jong’s son is very ill, the aftermath of corona. He also works at SC Cambuur. That’s really not good.”
Pröpper was aware of his illness. “Robin Pröpper knew that and as a gesture for Ruben he brought a shirt. He gave it to him afterwards during the interviews. I thought that was a nice gesture from Pröpper,” he concludes.
