Mbappé’s Future: Beyond the Salary Figures
Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director,Leonardo Araújo,has refuted claims that the club offered Kylian Mbappé a staggering €50 million net per season contract. In a recent interview with L’Équipe, Leonardo emphasized that financial compensation is not the primary factor influencing Mbappé’s decision regarding his future.
“We haven’t presented him with a concrete offer yet,” Leonardo clarified. “The salary will be the least important aspect of the contract. Our priority is to create the optimal habitat for him to flourish and reach his full potential as a player.”
While Mbappé’s current contract expires on June 30th, discussions about his future have been largely focused on non-monetary aspects. Last summer, Mbappé declined a contract extension and expressed his desire to join Real Madrid, prompting PSG to reject a €180 million bid from the Spanish giants.
Despite reports suggesting a €200 million net offer from PSG for the next two seasons, leonardo vehemently denied this figure. He stressed that Mbappé’s value transcends financial considerations.
“Kylian possesses immense value, and I believe he understands that,” Leonardo stated. “Money is secondary to him. Finalizing the salary details will be a quick process.”
Leonardo believes that Mbappé’s decision hinges on a sense of belonging and ambition. Historically, French players have often sought opportunities abroad due to the lack of a club comparable to PSG’s current stature.
“kylian is carefully considering his options,” Leonardo explained. “The atmosphere he experienced last Saturday was extraordinary. A strong bond is forming, not just with him, but with the entire team. Other clubs simply don’t have the same level of passionate support from their fans. This can be a important influencing factor.”
he referenced the enthusiastic applause Mbappé received from PSG supporters at the Parc des Princes after his remarkable performance against saint-Etienne, scoring two goals and providing an assist.
Leonardo’s primary objective is to ensure Mbappé feels valued and integral to the team, even in the presence of superstars like Lionel Messi and neymar.”Kylian is currently the best player in the world,” Leonardo asserted. “Messi has reached that level, and he remains remarkable, but it’s natural for younger talents to emerge. It’s not about comparing them; one is 23, and the other is 34.”
PSG remains committed to retaining Mbappé, regardless of the outcome of their upcoming Champions league tie against Real Madrid.
“As long as there’s no signature, we’ll continue to explore all possibilities to keep him,” Leonardo affirmed. “I don’t believe the Champions League tie will be the deciding factor. We have a promising generation of young players coming through our academy, and we’re eager to make further investments.Over the past decade, Qatar has elevated PSG to the ranks of elite clubs. The club is now beloved, admired, and respected worldwide.”

Thierry:
It’s a tough one. We all no Mbappé is one of the most talented players on the planet, and naturally, he commands a king’s ransom. But Leonardo does have a point. Players like Kylian, they’re driven by ambition, to win titles, to leave a legacy. It’s not always about the paycheck, although it’s certainly a nice perk!
Host:
Leonardo also touched upon the “optimal habitat” aspect, emphasizing the importance of Mbappé feeling valued and integral to the team. Do you think that’s a key factor in his decision?
Thierry:
Absolutely. Every player wants to feel appreciated, to be part of a project where they can thrive. Look at my experience at Arsenal. It wasn’t just about the money, it was about the way Wenger and the club made me feel like I belonged, like I mattered. That’s crucial, especially when you’re a young talent like Mbappé.
Host:
There’s been a lot of talk about this “sense of belonging.” Leonardo mentioned the unbelievable fanbase at PSG, especially after mbappé’s performance against Saint-Étienne. Do you think that type of passionate support sways a player’s decision?
Thierry:
Undoubtedly.playing in front of a passionate crowd, feeling that energy, it’s incredibly motivating. You get that connection with the fans, a sense of pride. At Arsenal, the atmosphere at Highbury was electric. It’s something special, and I’m sure Mbappé feels that at PSG.

Now, there’s been much speculation about Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappé. Considering your own journey from Arsenal to Barcelona, what are your thoughts on mbappé potentially moving abroad?
Thierry:
It’s a complex decision. As a young French player, you often dream of playing for big clubs in foreign leagues. The challenge, the experience, it’s all part of the adventure. But leaving your home country, it’s not an easy choice. You have to weigh the pros and cons.
Host:
There’s also the element of Ariosto tradition versus building something new. PSG is looking strong and aspiring, but Real Madrid holds a certain allure as a historically dominant club.
Thierry:
It’s true. Real Madrid has a legacy,a winning mentality. Mbappé could be a part of that, add to the history. But PSG is building something special too, with their current roster and their ambitions. They’ve become a force to be reckoned with. It’s a fascinating dilemma for Mbappé,and ultimately,it comes down to what feels right for him personally and professionally.
