PSG – Neymar denies altercation with Donnarumma: ‘A lie!’
After PSG’s bankruptcy at Real Madrid, Neymar and Gianluigi Donnarumma are said to have clashed. Now the Brazilian speaks up.
After the bitter Champions League defeat against Real Madrid, PSG superstar Neymar spoke up and expressed his disappointment. He also denied any reports of a heated argument between himself and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following Wednesday night’s 3-1 defeat at the Bernabeu.
“Yesterday was one of the most painful defeats for me,” Neymar wrote in a post Instagram. The 30-year-old was completely pale in Spain and played his part in the defeat with a momentous loss of possession before the 2-1. He had nothing to do with the earlier equalizer, which was the responsibility of goalkeeper Donnarumma, who carelessly frittered away the ball against Karim Benzema. The Italian then complained – as did coach Mauricio Pochettino afterwards – about an alleged foul by the Frenchman.
Neymar complains about reports: “A lie!”
The situation reportedly led to a heated argument between Neymar and Donnarumma in the dressing room after the game, but the attacking star dismissed the reports as fables. “I hate having to talk about these reports but it’s a lie,” he wrote via Instagram-Story clear and added: “There was no argument in the locker room. Incompetent journalists who want to make themselves important.”
As proof, he attached a chat history with Donnarumma via WhatsApp. In this Donnarumma apologized “for last night” and commented on the linked report as “unacceptable”. Neymar replied: “Don’t worry, things like that can happen in football. We are one team and we stand by you. You’re still very young and you’ll still win a lot.”
