TheRetiro Park chant in particular is sickening, trying to exclude someone based on their race. It breaks my heart.

Roberto Carlos: Of course, derby matches are always fierce. But there’s a line, a line that these individuals crossed. Even in the heat of the moment, we never resorted to racial slurs. This kind of behavior has no place in our sport, no place in our society.

Roberto Carlos: Clubs absolutely have a responsibility. They need to take a zero-tolerance approach. This isn’t about “a few bad apples” – this is about tackling a systemic problem. They need to identify these individuals, ban them from stadiums, and work with authorities to ensure they are held accountable.
