Radical Barça fans attack the Mossos d’Esquadra

Dozens of radical fans of the FC Barcelona They attacked a group of riot police on Thursday afternoon Mobile Brigade (Brimo) dels Mossos d’Esquadra, according to Catalan police sources. The events took place moments before the start of the match that the Barça team played against Galatasaray Turkish in the first leg of the round of 16 from UEFA Europa League. Three vans of agents parked in front of the access to the Camp Nou from traversera de les Corts they were thrown by pyrotechnics, stones and sticks, according to a video captured by a witness from a balcony or perhaps from the stadium.

In the images, which you can see in El Periódico de Catalunya, of the same publishing group as this newspaper, you can also see how some of the firecrackers and flares thrown at the police fall further away from the vans and reach the spectatorscompletely unprotected, who were entering the stadium at the time.

The video also has the audio recording of the Catalan police stations. In this recording he hears how the head of the police group informs his superior of the situation and how he responds to him to act if he has enough “strength” – in reference to whether he considers that he has enough troops to repel the radicals. – and finally, the police charge is seen “in the race” to deter them.

In a few seconds, the fans who attacked them began to flee through the gardens of Bacardi. Minutes later, Barcelona City Police officers found wooden sticks with knives attached to the tip with insulating tape as a spear. The homemade weapon, which the municipal police have handed over to the regional body, was allegedly moved to these gardens with the intention, presumably, of using it against the police. A possibility that, however, the Mossos cannot confirm yet.

The Catalan police have opened an investigation to clarify the facts and identify the suspects. It hasn’t happened yet no arrests. Sources consulted by this newspaper show their concern for the virulence of the riot and, in addition to the material they used to attack the riot police, draw attention to the clothing worn by all the attackers – black clothes – the same as they had carried on in previous matches.
