Huberdeau wrote his name in the NHL record books with a 70e pass, a top for a left winger he shares with Joé Juneau. The third overall pick in the 2011 draft got an assist on Aleksander Barkov’s goal into an empty net late in the third period.

The 28-year-old winger from Saint-Jérôme ended his evening with two goals and an assist against the Canadian. In 66 games this season, he now has 93 points (23 goals and 70 assists).

As a rookie, Juneau had 70 assists with the Boston Bruins in 1992-93. For the rest of his career, he mainly played in the center.

Kevin Stevens, of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991-1992, finds himself behind the two Quebecers with 69 assists. Mats Naslund, the little CH Viking, ranks fourth with 67 assists in 1985-1986, while Michel Goulet follows with 66 assists provided in 1983-1984 with the Nordiques.

Take out cables

Martin St-Louis likes to make analogies with other sports. He sometimes talks about baseball by describing a base game as a single and a riskier game as a possible home run.

He sometimes opts for football references when he describes the importance of clearing the ball to get out of trouble or getting a first down to illustrate an important play generating attack.

After that 7-4 loss to the Panthers at Sunrise, the coach tapped into his boxing reservoir. Halfway through the second period, the CH lost 4 to 1 against the band in Huberdeau and Barkov. In terms of shots in this middle period, the locals led 15 to 1. In short, it was a domination of the Panthers.

“I don’t know if we were frustrated,” said St-Louis of the attitude of his troops at this point in the game. But we were pushing ourselves to play better. We scored a goal, we turned the tide. I wouldn’t say it was a bad atmosphere. We were getting hit, we had to get out of the ropes and start hitting. »

To hit, the Habs hit three times in a row. Joel Edmundson, Laurent Dauphin and Christian Dvorak have in turn thwarted Sergeï Bobrovsky who has already experienced more glorious moments.

A scare

Jake Evans possibly sustained a left shoulder injury when he hit the boards hard behind Bobrosvky’s net in the third period.

After the game, the CH spoke of a minor injury, saying he will be assessed on a daily basis.
