Ricardo Lunari talks about Millonarios eliminated from Copa Libertadores and criticizes leaders | Libertadores Cup

The illusion of Millonarios in the Copa Libertadores 2022 lasted just 180 minutes of phase 2. Fluminense from Brazil eliminated him by winning both games of the series and leaving a global score of 4-1, leaving marked differences in projects, squads, experience, hierarchy and investment, between both clubs.

Sadness and resignation, mixed with impotence and some anger, invaded Ricardo Lunari, a former soccer player who left his mark among the Albiazul fans, and who was also a coach of the Bogota club.

After sentencing the fate of Millonarios in the Cup, and losing presence in international tournaments for another year, Lunari spoke about what the ambassador had done, on and off the field. He pointed out his comments towards the team led by Alberto Gamero, and also spoke about the management of the current leadership.

Already with Millonarios eliminated, the Argentine wanted to give a word of support to the team and reminded him that there is much to fight for this season: “To put everything in the championship,” he expressed on his Twitter account.

Then he made it clear that there are many differences between the teams from Brazil, and some from Argentina, with Millonarios and the clubs from the other countries of the continent: “They are reinforced to fight for the Cup, the others to make the best possible presentation”, and concluded that the ambassador club “didn’t do badly”.

Even interacting with a follower, Lunari defended the squad: “The boys do what they can against a team with great individuals and armed to go far.”

Finally, Lunari criticized those who, for him, are truly responsible for the collapse in the Cup.

“I know it’s mediocre to settle for what you have, but in any case the ones who have to invest are the leaders. We all knew that Millos didn’t get stronger to fight the Libertadores,” he concluded.
