Chaos trumps today in the Bloom Zone Fryslan Tour, a Dutch stage race for women.
During the time trial, the riders were confronted on the course with all kinds of wrong-way drivers: from cars to students on a bicycle. A driver of a van even turned around right in front of a rider.
The prize pool was also striking to say the least: winner Ellen van Dijk received a package with sex toys from EasyToys, the main sponsor of the competition.
“We are speechless by the incidents that happened today,” reports the riders’ union CPA. “We are very disappointed in the Bloom Zone Fryslan Tour. Fortunately, no one was injured.”
“The time trial took place on a track that was open to traffic. The prizes awarded after the race made the day even more surreal.”
