Rodez Archers Shine at Regional Tournament
The second day of the regional archery competition, Sunday, February 20th, saw Rodez archers Clovis and Coralie take to the field.
In the morning qualifying rounds, Clovis, competing in the Senior 2 Recurve category, achieved a respectable score of 484 points, securing him 24th place in the tournament. Coralie, in the Senior 1 Recurve category, delivered an remarkable performance, scoring 499 points and landing in 9th place. Her strong showing was highlighted by a remarkable comeback in the second series of shots.The afternoon brought the excitement of knockout matches. For Clovis, this marked his first experience in this high-pressure format, while Coralie, though more seasoned, was still eager to prove herself in only her second participation.
The duels commenced in the round of 32 for Clovis and the round of 16 for Coralie. Despite a valiant effort, Clovis was defeated in his first match, finishing in 23rd place.Coralie, however, showcased her talent, winning her first match 6-2 and advancing to the quarterfinals. There, she faced a formidable opponent, the eventual regional champion, and ultimately lost 0-6 in a closely contested match.
coralie’s 6th place finish and Clovis’s strong showing are inspiring results for the Rodez archery Club. These achievements serve as a powerful motivator for other club members as the outdoor archery season begins. With renewed enthusiasm, the archers will aim to qualify for regional and national competitions, building on the success of their teammates.

Jean-Pierre: Clovis definately showed promise. Qualifying rounds are crucial for setting the stage, and his score reflects a solid foundation. Knockout matches are a different beast entirely. The pressure is amplified, and experience plays a critically important role.
Host: Coralie, on the other hand, stormed through the competition, finishing in a commendable 6th place. She demonstrated strong comeback skills during the qualifying rounds. What do you see as her strengths as an archer?
Jean-Pierre: Coralie possesses remarkable mental fortitude. Archery is as much a mental game as a physical one. Her ability to bounce back from a challenging start and maintain composure under pressure is truly indicative of a top athlete.
