Lhe Ukrainian Federation has announced the almost total destruction of the Avangard complex, which housed one of the most prestigious basketball schools in the country. The Kiev sports complex was located near the television tower, which was attacked last Tuesday and was affected by the bombs launched by the Russian army.
Many players trained in basketball at Avangard, which, until the Russian invasion, supported numerous youngsters of child and youth age who trained and played their matches there.
All international basketball competitions have excluded Russian teams as a result of the invasion of Ukraine and most foreign players are leaving those clubs. In addition, FIBA has withdrawn Russia’s candidacy to host the 2025 Eurobasket. The selection process continues and Ukraine is included in it.
