Yahn Motoly-Bongambé continues to impress, and takes a new step in his career!
The young Calaisien has just been selected in French Judo team.
On March 12 and 13, Yahn will travel to Zagreb, Croatia, to participate in a European Cup with her beautiful kimono from the France team.
His performances at the start of the season gave him hope for this selection.
A positive Covid test…
He could have hoped to discover the France team earlier. He had been invited to a European Cup in Spain at the end of February but a positive Covid test forced him to stay on the airport forecourt…
Imagine his reaction when he received the good news last Friday from the French Judo Federation: “I was relieved, super happy to be able to participate in a European Cup with the national team and not as a guest. Wearing the French judogi with the tricolor flag on the sleeve, it will be magical”.
A member of the ABOI since 2014, where he took his first steps in the dojos of Saint-Calais and Bessé-sur-Braye, the “protected” of his first trainer Henri Brichet is now in 1st grade.
Member of the Pôle Espoir de Nantes, with another child from the club Pierre Grasteauhe counts on his 10 to 12 hours of weekly training (between practicing judo and physical preparation), to enable him to perform well in Croatia.
I don’t necessarily know the level of my future European opponents. On the other hand, the level of French Judo is obvious. The French often dominate the European Cups. I’m going there to win and show that I can become a starter in the French team for the next stages.
Going from being a guest or substitute to being a regular member of the national team is Yahn’s avowed goal.
In the meantime, other deadlines await him.
Starting this weekend, with the French Junior Championships at the INF (National Judo Institute) in Paris, where he will fight although he is still only a cadet. Ambitiousthis will obviously not prevent him from aiming for a medal against more seasoned opponents.
“Complete and determined”
And at the end of March, he intends to keep his title of Champion of France Cadets acquired in 2021, this time in his age category. The young judoka reveals his qualities. “I am complete, determined, I never give up”!
Sandrine Grasteau, president of the judo club, Henry Brichethis trainer, and all his club mates will of course be his first supporters.
And they are only waiting for one thing: to see Yahn in a tricolor Judogi coming to “challenge” the young shoots of the section in our dojos.
