In the youth basketball Bundesliga (JBBL/U16), the playoffs start at the weekend – the game is played in the first and second leg mode. After completing the main and relegation groups, the Sartorius Youngsters will first receive the Niners Chemnitz Academy on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the local Sartorius Basketball Lab. The second leg will be played in Chemnitz next weekend. The Sartorius Juniors game in the junior basketball league (NBBL/U19) against the TennT young heroes has been postponed to another date due to corona infections in the opponent.

The team of Youngsters head coach Marjo Heinemann goes into the playoffs with a record of nine wins and one loss from relegation group 1. The Chemnitz team is still the clear favorite in this duel, as they finished second in the JBBL main round. “The balance of power on paper is clearly distributed, but every game is decided on the floor,” says Heinemann. In order to beat the Saxons, the Göttinger have to keep their own error rate as low as possible, create good offensive opportunities and force the Niners defense to make mistakes.
Chemnitz won nine out of ten games in the main round – only against Alba Berlin, the winner of the main round, did the Saxons leave the floor as losers. While the youngsters only completed their relegation round with the last two games last weekend, the last duel between the Niners was a while ago. On February 20th, Coach Kevin Oberlack’s team won 64:54 against Higherlevel Berlin. The break came about because there were fewer teams in a group in the main round than in the relegation round and therefore fewer games had to be played. The schedule was also pushed back due to the pandemic.
