Mexican Archery Team Aims for San salvador 2023 and Paris 2024
Olympic bronze medalist Luis Abuelo Álvarez,hailing from baja California,is set to compete in the Regional Qualifier for the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023. The event will take place this Saturday in Bayamón,Puerto Rico.
Álvarez, currently ranked as Mexico’s top archer, secured his position after dominating both the National Outdoor Championship in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and the Internal Control held in Mexico City. These victories were sanctioned by the Mexican Archery Federation.
Joining Álvarez in the pursuit of securing spots for Mexico in the recurve bow discipline are Emilio Trevio from Nuevo León and Jesús del Ángel Flores from Coahuila. Success in San Salvador 2023 would mark a crucial first step in the journey towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Mexican Archery Federation (FMTA), led by Santiago Avitia, has a extensive plan in place. Sofia Pacheco: Luis is a phenomenal archer. He’s been dominant in recent Mexican competitions, demonstrating incredible focus and consistency.His experience on the world stage, including that Olympic bronze medal, gives him a real edge. If he brings his A-game to San Salvador, he’ll be very hard to beat.
Besides Luis, we have Emilio Trevio and Jesús del Ángel Flores. What can you tell us about these archers?
