The Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games, which will take place from October 20 to November 5, already have 6 classified Venezuelan athletes, reported sports media.
According to a statement issued by Ivar Sisniega, general secretary of Panam Sports, addressed to the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, Eduardo Álvarez, announced the qualified athletes directly.
The 16-year-old swimmer María Yegres, on the list, will compete in the 800m freestyle. The Creole comes from achieving 10 gold medals in the National Sports Games and she is one of the main ones to achieve a good performance.
The runner Ryan López Parra will be present in the 800 meters, he won the gold medal at the Cali-Valle 2021 Pan American Games, defeating the strong Brazilians Leonardo Santos and Eduardo Moreira.
The young 20-year-old judoka Willis García will fight on the tatami in the -66 Kilograms category. The judoka’s last participation was this year in the Antalya Grand Slam held in Turkey.
Fabiola Díaz will see action in the -52 Kg category of Judo. The Carabobo state native finished in the top 8 of the Junior World Championship in 2021.
Hender Medina will have his performance in Sable, after achieving gold at the Junior Pan American Games in December 2021, beating Chilean Roberto Monsalva.
The wrestling square is open to any competitor in the country within the 62 kg category.
