Sonny Gray goes to the Twins

The Minnesota Twins acquired right-hander Sonny Gray and minor leaguer Francis Peguro from the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

In return, the Reds landed the Twins’ first-round pick Chase Petty, who is also a right-handed pitcher.

Gray has had a tough season in 2021, plagued by groin and flank injuries. He went 7-9 with a 4.19 ERA in 26 starts for the Twins, striking out 155 batters in 135 1/3 innings.

According to ESPN, the Twins are also set to trade third baseman Josh Donaldson, shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and receiver Ben Rortvedt.

They would become members of the New York Yankees. In return, the Twins would get their hands on Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela.
