While Alexander Zverev was booed by tennis fans in Brazil, his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla stood by his side. Now the couple is sending love greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
Sophia Thomalla shares a new turtle photo with her boyfriend Alexander Zverev. The two say hello from Rio de Janeiro. The 24-year-old tennis star won both individual matches there, but he couldn’t look forward to support from fans in Brazil – but his girlfriend was there to support him.
The reason for the lack of support from fans: Zverev’s disqualification after throwing a tantrum at the ATP tournament on February 23 in Acapulco. After this incident, he made his comeback and was not exactly welcomed back on the pitch with joy: “We were booed here the whole time,” said the Olympic champion after the last match.
Thomalla apparently still liked it in Rio de Janeiro. “Brazil, it was an honor,” writes the 32-year-old about the photos that show her arm in arm with a shirtless Zverev on the edge of the tennis court.

However, the presenter cannot resist a dig at the Brazilian fans: “Germany kicked you in the butt again,” she comments with a soccer emoji – probably alluding to the 7-1 victory of the German national team at the soccer World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
“Adeus!” (Portuguese for “Bye!”) adds Thomalla and reveals: Next up is Indian Wells in California, where Zverev will be on the pitch from Monday, March 7th.
Numerous Thomalla followers have commented on the post. For example her mother, the actress Simone Thomalla. She just sends six red hearts. There are also Zverev himself. “Do you two look happy”, someone agrees. Or just: “How beautiful you are together.”
