The Club Badminton Soria-CS24 (CBS-CS24) participated in another thrilling weekend of the National League of First Division B, held at the José Antonio Segura pavilion in Almería. Currently sitting in sixth place, the club remains firmly in contention to secure its position within the league.
The weekend commenced with a crucial match against Madrid Badminton Club Arroyo Tejada, a contest widely anticipated as a potential victory for the Soria team. True to expectations, CBS-CS24 emerged triumphant with a decisive 5-2 win. Despite a shaky start, dropping two of the three doubles matches, the team rallied with four consecutive singles victories courtesy of Nora Martínez, Javier Barrios, Ana Sanz, and Marcos Fernández.
The afternoon brought a tougher challenge against the formidable Badminton Club Mercapinturas Almería, a club with aspirations for promotion. The Andalusian team proved too strong for CBS-CS24, securing a 6-1 victory.Javier Barrios valiantly earned the sole point for soria.
Looking ahead, the second half of the season promises more manageable opponents for CBS-CS24. With their current standing and the potential for favorable matchups, a climb up the rankings seems highly probable. The club’s next challenge awaits at the end of March in Tres Cantos, Madrid.

Moderator: Soria’s performance this weekend was a mixed bag. A decisive win against Arroyo Tejada followed by a tougher loss against Mercapinturas Almería.What are your thoughts on their overall performance?
Beatriz: It’s been a typical weekend in the National League. you have your strong teams like Mercapinturas who are gunning for promotion, and then you have the mid-table battles where every point matters. Soria’s win over Arroyo Tejada was impressive. They rebounded well after dropping those early doubles matches. Their singles players showed real resilience.
Moderator: Speaking of resilience, Javier Barrios seems to be a standout performer for Soria. He secured the only point against Mercapinturas. What do you think makes him such a valuable asset to the team?
Beatriz: Javier’s footwork is exceptional. He covers the court incredibly well and can put his opponents under constant pressure. He’s also mentally tough – never giving up even when facing a tough challenge.
Moderator: Looking ahead,Soria is in sixth place. Do you think they can climb the rankings in the second half of the season? The article mentioned more manageable opponents coming up.
Beatriz: I think it’s definitely within reach. The key for them will be consistency. They need to convert those wins against the teams they’re expected to beat.the momentum gained from those victories could be crucial later in the year.
Moderator: Beatriz, you’ve achieved incredible success in your career. do you have any advice for young players aspiring to reach the National League level?
Beatriz: Practice, practice, practice! It sounds cliché, but there’s no substitute for hard work and dedication. Spend time perfecting your technique, developing your game strategy and always strive to learn from your opponent.
Moderator: Wise words indeed. Thanks for those insights, Beatriz.
