Strictly speaking, Shin Tae-yong Sets the Player of Choice Criteria for the U-20 World Cup

The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, leads the U-19 national team practice at the Senayan Intermediate Stadium, Wednesday (02/03/22).

INDOSPORT.COM – The coach of the U-19 Indonesia national team, Shin Tae-yong, admitted that he had special criteria for selecting players to appear in the 2023 U-20 World Cup. There are two mandatory criteria, namely physical and mental strength.

For Shin Tae-yong, these two things must be owned by U-19 national team players because potential opponents in the U-20 World Cup must have the best quality and superior body posture.

In addition, the 51-year-old coach must make some improvements considering that there are still shortcomings from his foster children in the U-19 Indonesian national team.

“We are also preparing to be physically and mentally strong after this,” said Shin Tae-yong to the media crew, Friday (4/3/22).

“But it’s not just one thing. Many things need to be improved because the opponent later in the 2023 U-20 World Cup will definitely be superior in posture, so we have to strengthen physically,” he said.

Furthermore, Shin Tae-yong said he had no plans to find and summon descendants to enter the squad for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

He chose to focus on leading the training center (TC) in Jakarta and will continue to his hometown, South Korea, for a month starting next week.

“It’s difficult to explain in detail, but currently we are in preparation for naturalization for the projection of the senior national team,” said Shin Tae-yong.
